About Steven Hazelwood

Steven D. Hazelwood is owner of Hazelwood Firm, LLC., a trial practice and Hazelwood Title Co., LLC. a title and escrow services agency for the real estate industry servicing Mobile, Baldwin and Washington County with abstractors and notary services available in all 67 counties in the State of Alabama. He is a highly accomplished professional with a diverse background in law, real estate, business consulting, and technical sales.

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Steven is the son of a paper mill worker and a registered nurse. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work, determination, and commitment to serving others.

After graduating from Murphy High School, Steven began his first professional experience in the United States Navy. He served as a Boatswain and crewed an AOE-4 of the Atlantic Fleet in the Mediterranean and Red Seas during Desert Storm. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Steven transitioned into the title insurance industry while concurrently pursuing higher education at night school. He graduated from Faulkner Community College with an Applied Science Degree in Computer Networking.

Steven's business acumen and technical expertise led him to AT&T Corporation, where he worked as a Wide Area Network Consultant for businesses and received advanced training in sales, business processes and technology.

In 1995, Steven embarked on a journey into the real estate industry. He obtained a license to sell real estate, launching a successful 25-year career in real estate consulting and sales. Concurrently, as a single parent raising a daughter, he attended the University of South Alabama at night. Balancing family, a career and education, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Business, and Political Science. During this period, Steven primarily focused his career on commercial and residential real estate, business consulting, and real estate development, applying a business consulting approach to his service delivery.

With a strong foundation in real estate and business/technology consulting, Steven decided to pursue a legal education at Faulkner University's Jones School of Law in Montgomery, AL. He completed the three-year program in two and a half years, earning his Juris Doctorate, which allowed him to expand his professional services.

In 2021, Steven accepted a position as the City of Fairhope Assistant Prosecutor, focusing on domestic violence cases. Additionally Steven completed a state certification and represent minors as Guardian ad Litum for the Domestic Circuit Courts of Alabama.


Community Involvement - Awards and Recognitions

Throughout his career, Steven has demonstrated a commitment to community service and engagement.

Between 2003 and 2014, Steven held the position of Vice President for the Fairhope Recreational Soccer League and coached youth soccer. He also co-founded the Baldwin County Cup, a county-wide recreational soccer tournament promoting collaboration among communities in Baldwin County.

In 2005, he created the Eastern Shore Adult Soccer program in Fairhope, which later became Daphne's Eastern Shore Co-Ed Soccer program. He continues to serve as the program administrator, team manager, and player.

While attending law school, Steven volunteered with Alabama At-Risk Youth (Prevention Sub-committee) to address the concerns of children and adolescents at risk of entering the juvenile justice system. He was also a co-creator and organizer of the Military Veterans Law Association, providing legal clinics for military veterans. Steven was one of three to receive the Public Interest Fellow Award for Pro-Bono Merit, Community Service Merit, and Ellen Brooks Merit.
